Meet Jesse Jackson of Inner Strength Fitness in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jesse. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After two and half years of working at the big box gyms, I saw the repeatedly low quality of service from most personal trainers and knew I wanted to do something about it. I took a leap of faith and started my personal training business as a solopreneur inside a local Chiropractic office with 500 square foot of space. I didn’t have much of any equipment or even money at the time, but what I did have was my passion for helping people, my constant desire to learn, and the work ethic to grow. Another thing I saw during my time at the big gyms, I worked at was how much there was no solution for a lot of people with unique challenges like joint replacements, Parkinson’s disease, functional again, and people with general aches and pains. This is why my studio’s private personal training programs are doctor-recommended due to specializing in helping these people gain and maintain a high quality of life with solutions tailored to meet their needs. We’re proud to be the referring source of several DFW doctors, physical therapists, and chiropractors.

After 18 months, we expanded to our own 1,500 square foot studio to be able to serve more people while still maintaining our high standards of results, relationships, and service. Four and a half years later and we are on the path to growing our concept with the goal of expansion to other areas in the DFW. We got to where we are today by making fitness more than just about working out and also by trying to be the best solution providers to people who are as underserved in the fitness industry as probably any other market is. At Inner Strength, we believe fitness is a tool to empower people to live life with purpose and is a tool for personal growth.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Fighting through periods where you don’t have the resources to do all that needs to be done is a big challenge. You have to be resourceful and prioritize what matters. I’d also have to admit that many times my mindset has been the biggest enemy of my growth. Being a serious entrepreneur can be a lonely road that not a lot of people can fully understand, so it’s often easy to isolate yourself and lose clarity of purpose and discernment for how to move forward. Hiring and training people is serious business too. Employees tend to perform to the level you expect them to perform. You have to be willing to go 110% on training them and investing in them no matter what. You can’t expect employees to do great work if you don’t clearly articulate and provide processes for them to follow. Systems, systems, systems, wrapped up in the WHY behind the work is always the best way to go.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Inner Strength Fitness – what should we know?
We specialize in helping people with specific needs and unique challenges continue to be strong, healthy, and purpose-driven in their work and families so they can live with less pain, have more freedom, and maintain an active lifestyle. We have clients with hip replacements, knee replacements, Parkinson’s, hypothyroidism, diabetes, spina-bifida, functional aging seniors, and busy professionals who just want to live a healthier lifestyle. We’re known for “bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness” and for the results, we get clients who would otherwise have not had many good solutions to help them get more fit and live a healthier lifestyle.

Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business?  If so –who are they and what role did they plan/how did they help.
All my clients and staff members deserve love, but to name a few… Mike Lara: he’s been a brother to me and helped me launch this vision with the same passion and vision as me. Patty Robertson: she was not only a client for several years but helped me through some rough patches in more ways than one. I will always be grateful for her love and for believing in me. Dave and Chris Mueller: They put forth a lot of sweat equity and belief in me to see our new training studio open up. I couldn’t have done it without them and I’m eternally grateful.
