Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Castillo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Victoria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I would say when I was about 15 years old, I did my first beauty pageant. I remember how much fun it was to get glammed up and meet a lot of new wonderful people.
It made me want to engage further in modeling as well as acting. I decided to sign with a modeling school/agency that taught me all the basics. How to interview and prepare for auditions, walk the runway, pose for photo shoots, and down to acting classes where we did a ton of improv skits & acting out monologues. I took this knowledge and put it towards gigs my agency would send my way. They got me introduced to commercial work. I ended up doing commercials for Subaru of Plano, Discovery Card, and American Crime on ABC for (extra background work).
After sticking with the agency for a while, I decided to become a freelance model to see how far I could go on my own. I also wanted to keep from having percentages taken out of my pay, because who wants that right? Lol. It made me proud to see that it was successful for me to become a freelance model, and be able to land gigs and shoots on my own. I do not model full time though. I am a full-time Leasing Agent out in Lewisville, TX leasing apartments. They are very flexible with me thanks to my amazing bosses. Therefore, I’m able to take off if needed or move my schedule around, but mostly I plan my modeling work on my downtime. I will be taking on Modeling full time very soon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been an easy ride along the way. I’ve dealt with a lot of negative energy thrown at me, along with obstacles in life I had to face that made me put my goals and ambition on hold. I’ve learned hands on that everything you go through in life just makes you stronger. Who I am today is because of everything I’ve been through, so I can’t complain.
Please tell us about your work.
As a freelance model, I specialize in promotional modeling. I promote different things such as liquor brands, energy drinks, club and nightlife promotions, and boutique clothing lines.
I also work with different artists in the industry being featured in their music videos as well.
In the modeling & acting industry you have to be ok with minor setbacks, competition, and learn how to pick your self back up and try even harder. They say a picture holds a thousand words and that’s how I want my work to reflect. I want my ambition to be seen, my voice to be heard, and my love and care for others to be felt. I want to create a memorable message.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Everything, lol. No, I mean if I could start over, there a lot of things I want to go back and change, but to be honest with you, it’s made me who I am. I will say staying true to my self and doing this all for me and no one else. My past has built me and there’s no reason to look back. I’m moving on to the next chapter in my life and I’m headed to the climax of my story.
