Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Sands.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was suffering with FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) for over seven years. My Herbalist and Healer recommended that I look into Healing Touch Program, since I had been responding so well to her treatments and had expressed an interest in helping others with FMS. At the Level 1 class, I learned to administer the Chakra Spread technique. During the Chakra Spread, I asked the Universe for freedom from the pain. (Actually, I was yelling at the top of my metaphysical lungs.) After the technique was through, I KNEW I had been given a positive answer. However, my excitement was tempered by years of fear due to the overwhelming pain and I decided to wait a few days before raising my hopes.
Since that day, I have had no pain. Nothing. Nada. I stopped taking the daily Vicadin that kept me functioning and the Ultracet as well. (It is difficult not to become emotional while writing this.) However, I felt I was truly healed when my husband mentioned one evening, a few weeks later, how well I was doing. It was storming out and I had exercised that day. Those factors would have driven me into a warm bath, whimpering from pain and infused with the maximum permitted dosage of prescribed medication known to humankind. Instead, I felt fine, fantastic, and healthy – like a normal human being.
Healing Touch has made an incredible impact because I feel that I have regained my life. I love being outdoors and can exercise daily now. I am happy. My husband is rediscovering his long-lost beloved and I feel as though I can give my son the quality of childhood he deserves.
Since completing the program and becoming a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner six years ago, I have furthered my explorations and am a Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner, Reiki Master, Shamanic Healer and most recently, a Heartmath Certified Trainer.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I am utterly convinced that smooth, linear paths of progression exist only in mathematical hypotheses. My road has been composed of cliffs, mobius strips, surprise pitfalls and forks without guideposts. Learning to trust my inner wisdom and have sustained patience have been two challenges that I fought like a cat heading for a bath – claws out and dragmarks on the door.
The conservative culture of North Texas has been a struggle to work within and without. I cannot count the number of times I have been accused of voodoo, devil-worship and met with pure, unadulterated distrust. Holding compassion and boundaries while offering grass-roots education about what I do has taken a great deal of energy. I feel I have had to introduce my holistic methodologies as well as market them.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Holistic Energy Practice, LLC – what should we know?
My business is two-fold. I have individual sessions and small workshops for children, adults and animals. I also hold group workshops for professionals; teaching HeartMath techniques.
My work as a HeartMath Certified Trainer offers me to teach corporate professionals, first responders, active military, veterans and care-givers techniques to build up their resilience to stress. These techniques are used on the go and can offer a person the ability to shift their go-to reaction from anxiety to an active calm, refilling their energy and improving their performance and family life. The HeartMath System is an evidence-based methodology, published in many journals, such as: American Journal of Cardiology, Stress Medicine and Global Advances in Health and Medicine.
Healing Touch complements medical and therapeutic techniques and may be used in conjunction with traditional disciplines. This form of energy work addresses the client’s physical, emotional and spiritual health, with the Practitioner’s primary focus being on assisting the client’s ability to self-heal.
The goal of Healing Touch is to restore wholeness and health through harmony and balance in the client’s energy field. It is an effective method for addressing and healing various ailments, including: stress, allergies, chronic conditions, emotional/physical trauma and recovery from surgery. Healing Touch can be applied to infants, children, adults and animals.
My workshops for kids and adults include: Intro to Healing Energy, Animals Guides, Vision Boards, Intro to Crystals and Guided Meditations.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to leave my ego at the door and be of service for my clients’ highest good. I strive to accept clients where they are on their path and activate choice to awaken their transformation. I offer approaches of holistic as well as research based methodologies to accomplish this intent.
Having experienced a seven-year illness, during which I had to learn to say “no” with empathy to keep myself healthy instead of running myself into the ground, allows me to better empathize with my clients’ healing journeys.
