Today we’d like to introduce you to Patience Adagbon.
Patience, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The way that I started is actually broken into pieces. I have always enjoyed fashion as a child and I can only imagine the amount of pictures I have taken for my mom growing up. It makes sense because I have always been the one who people would love to take pictures of them because they said that I always captured their angles nicely. So, one day while in school, I was with a friend Bucci, and we were studying for a test, and we were tired and we were randomly like, let’s go get a sewing machine and make some clothes. We must have been sleep deprived because it is not me to make such purchases randomly. The sewing part was hard because I have just hand sewn in the past, and not with a machine. Fast forwarding, I continued to work on my craft and asked people around me their opinions on pieces that I would make. After I finally thought my work was good enough to showcase to people, that is when I finally decided to launch AugustPrevail.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This has definitely been everything far from a smooth road. I have literally used blood, sweat, tears, frustration, anxiety, joy, and any other emotion you could possibly think of in the process even up until today for this business. Some of the struggles that I face I are:
Are people going to like my stuff or understand the concept of what I’m doing?
Will this fit people the way I envisioned it?
Will people be satisified with this picture or video edit?
WIll people take me seriously as a female entreperenuer?
Some other struggles that I encounter is with time because sometimes, it gets in the way, so some things are overlooked or I have to move activities around to meet expectations for another activity. Overall, I do not mind because I believe that this will help me in the future on how to handle situations. It is always nice to grow.
Please tell us about AugustPrevail.
AugustPrevail is a company where we specialize in fashion, art and entertainment. We provide men and women ready to wear apparel, but also take custom orders to ensure our customers happy. We also love orders from big parties whether a bridal, bachelorette or birthday guest who wants their guests in our merchandise. When we say entertainment, it is a HUGE umbrella of what we are providing. We provide photography, video or cinematography to capture quality moments whether for an event, business ad, or even just for personal reasons that someone may have. We are even about to start short films! We also love to work with people who love art whether it is singing, dancing, painting. If there is an event that a person may have to where they need artists, models, dancers, mc’s, food caters, etc., we provide that to ensure that the company who booked through us is satisfied through our clients. It is almost like saying anything you need, we got it and that is what makes me the most proud as a company. Being able to interact with people and still have great turnouts to where everyone is happy and the vision is brought to life is what really makes me happy and that is what sets us apart from others!!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There is absolutely nothing that I regret of what I have done so far. The only thing that I would have done differently is start sooner. Through this journey, I have been able to see growth through not only my business, but growth in myself as well.
