Meet Abby Rodriguez of abbytootrill in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Rodriguez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Abby. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started going to shows and events sometime around 2013. I’d go by myself at first but eventually started going with my friends. Once I discovered the Dallas underground music scene, I began to attend more shows very often. I met a lot of dope local creatives and initiated many friendships. As time passed, I became a part of Aeronotiqz, TopShelf Texas, and Intelligent Grind as a promoter. I then took the role to become a manager for my artist, MESSIAHMAD. Recently, I’ve gotten the opportunity to be promoted as a Community Influencer by Intelligent Grind. I am also currently working on initiating a clothing brand that will be coming soon.

Has it been a smooth road?
There hasn’t been much trouble along the way, but losing my job and my own transportation set me back financially and somewhat mentally. I couldn’t fully create what I wanted to because of the lack of funds. I felt like I was stuck and not moving forward with my vision.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I promote/curate shows and events with local Dallas brands. I sell tickets, network with many new faces, and attend shows. I am a manager to my artist, MESSIAHMAD. He recently just released his first EP, “HORROR IN DA 3”, on October 31st, 2018. As of right now, I am still working on creating my clothing brand. For a fact, I know that will be something I will be most proud of.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is a great city and there is a lot of different styles and aesthetics. I believe this city, in particular, is slept on, but most certainly being watched. I feel like wherever you are if you’re starting you’d just have to be 100% motivated and really want it. No matter what city you’re in, you should follow your dreams and strive for success.
