Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Davis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Adam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had always enjoyed getting my pictures taken since high school. I would watch fashion shows, and even in college, I was involved with an on-site modeling agency. When I moved down to Dallas in August of 2016, more and more people and companies wanted me taking pictures with their products. That worked for a while. But then in March of 2017, I had a video go viral of me visiting my little brother in Ohio. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4324192/Brother-flew-Texas-Ohio-surprise-family.html
That moment changed my life forever. I became famous on Instagram and news outlets. When this happened, a lot of companies reached out to me wanting to work with me. And that is how I started the process of modeling full time. For a while, after that, I would shoot like four-five times a weekend but then that changed to me shooting that many times in a day. I even got sponsored by boxed water.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. I have had to deal with cancellations at the last minute. I have also had to deal with not getting certain roles. I actually enjoy the struggle because I think there is a beauty in the process of what you learn about yourself. I have been turned down plenty of times but I learn what I should have done and could improve on. Just last month, I got one of my big breaks and was in a Solange Music Video that will be released later on this year. I could have been discouraged from being turned down for other roles and decided not to try out for this video but I did it anyway. We will miss 100 percent of the shots we do not take. So, just shoot. Eventually, something will go in.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I model and I specialize in street or urban modeling. I am most proud of the fact that whenever I am on set with other models or photographers they all say the same thing about me. That I am genuine, hard-working, and easy to work with. I think what sets me apart from others is that I have a different look than most people and I am versatile
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I think my mother deserves a lot of the credit without her I do not think I would be as confident in myself as a model. Whenever I am going to a shoot or getting ready, I still call her to this day. When I get pictures back, I send them to her before I post them anywhere online and she lets me know what she likes, and what I can get better at. Secondly, the next person I would give credit to is my friend/brother Kendall Troy back in 2014, when I started doing modeling he helped me get started. We made a music video and he taught me how to be in front of a camera. Without that moment, I don’t think I would have ever been interested in modeling. Kendall and I talk every day to this day. Lastly, but the most important person who deserves the credit is my son. He is the reason I work so hard every single day. He is only one year old but he has impacted my life more than anyone else has in this entire world.
