Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Farris.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First 24 years of my career was on the corporate side. That ended in 1999, and the new chapter began in 2001. I built the first car wash and lube center in Frisco Texas in 2001. We added a second location in McKinney in 2004. Developed those stores and sold them both in March of 2015. Bought another two weeks later in McKinney and that is where I am today.
Has it been a smooth road?
The first nine months were very hard because I had a steep learning curve. Then I found a manager that was terrific, and he taught me how to wash cars. At our peek, we had 135 employees and that by itself brings many challenges.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Master Car Wash & Lube – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My main function is to monitor and work with my managers to produce the greatest value for our customers. My Frisco store received the first ever Small Business of The Year in 2003. My greatest honor was to serve on the Southwest Car Wash Association for 7 years and finished up as the President in 2013-2014. With myself and managers we have over 53 years of experience serving our customers each day.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have lived in McKinney for over 16 years and really enjoy the city. I would like to see our city be more business friendly to new businesses. One area in particular is the digital sign restrictions that they have. They have the most restrictions in Collin County. I am working to change that situation.
