Meet Lauren Morgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Morgan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always known I was meant to be a creative. Out of high school, I tried to make my way with various art forms. I dabbled with acting, was in a band, worked as a make-up artist for a few years. I was just never really successful in them, nor did I ever feel like any of it was something I could have a future with. Realizing I could create art with flowers was such a game changer for me. As soon as I started, I fell in love and haven’t looked back. I’ve been working with flowers for around seven years now, and my passion for it just keeps growing.

Has it been a smooth road?
Jokingly, I always quote Drake’s “Started from the bottom, now we here” as my business mantra. It’s just so accurate! I got into this business with nothing and knowing nothing. It has taken a lot of practice, patience, and humility to get where I am, and I live by those things every day. I have worked for various companies in Dallas, learned from some of the best in the industry, but also have been flat broke, dead tired, cried to and from work on many occasions. There was a point when I was so defeated I actually thought I would never be good enough to do this and was about to quit. But you just power through for your dreams, and I think as long as you work hard and be kind, you find success. The DFW wedding scene is pretty incredible too. I have made some really amazing friendships with other local vendors, that inspire me to keep going every day.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an event florist, specializing in weddings. I would say I am known for being a little outside the box. I stray from traditional norms and am always looking for ways to create something unique and bespoke to my couples. I’m incredibly proud of the platform I have based my business off of. My whole thing is LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE, no matter what that might look like. In such a traditional industry, you will find some companies aren’t as welcoming to everyone and it truly breaks my heart. I want the “freaks”, the dreamers, the wild and free, in all forms, genders, and races. I think what sets me apart is the relationships I have with my clients. We become very close in the wedding planning process and I take a lot of pride in really trying to represent them and who they are as a couple in each design. I feel extremely lucky to get to be a part of such a special day.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas has been so good to me and my business. I would definitely recommend any aspiring florist, or any wedding industry worker to be here. There is so much work to go around. The local vendors are extremely helpful, we all help and even work for each other when we can. It’s been so fun meeting businesses, learning and creating together. I haven’t ever felt threatened or like I have any “competition” just support across the board.
