Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Lin.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since I was a child making short films and recording home movies with my handy-cam, I have always had a passion for motion pictures. As an immigrant from Taiwan, barely being able to speak the language, I found my voice and expressed my emotions through the lens.
When I first started, I would tell stories without words, using only actions, camera movements, and facial cues. At the very core of my films today, whether they are for corporate clients or couples on their wedding day, I find myself following the same principles: to produce films that capture genuine interactions, emotions, and storytelling.
As I continue to develop my own abilities throughout the years to come and to share my knowledge with upcoming filmmakers, my story and passion over my eight years in business has continued to be telling the story of others.
From the story of a third-generation restaurant owner to a love story which culminates in a life-changing event of two individuals, there is something special about being able to preserve those precious moments.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like most artists and small business owners, getting your name and brand out there from the beginning can be a challenge. We had to attend many wedding shows, networking events, open houses, and more just to make our name known within the DFW area.
As cameras and other accessories become more user-friendly and inexpensive, we have also had to contend with new businesses offering videography services. What is seen as competition and a challenge can also be a blessing? Due to the growing industry, our company has built great working relationships with talented individuals.
As a result, this elevates the quality of work and pushes us to keep learning and never be complacent with our knowledge.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Green Light Media Services story. Tell us more about the business.
Our company specializes in videography/photography for events and weddings, marketing, real estate, and business promotional content. Although we are known mostly for our event and wedding event work, we love working with our corporate clients!
We are so proud of the relationship we’ve developed over the years with our clients and vendors. At Green Light, we sit down with you for every event or project to assess your vision and goals. From the pre-production stage of planning out the schedule and script to the delivery of the final product and beyond, we are in constant communication with our clients.
Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so –who are they and what role did they plan / how did they help.
Thanks to the hard work ethic of my parents, I’ve always considered myself to have very fortunate circumstances. My sister and I grew up with very supportive parents, who allowed us to pursue our passions in the arts. Although, I discovered my love for film early on, it wasn’t until I was given the opportunity in high school to join the Academy of Media Arts & Technology program that really turned a hobby into a career option.
From the very beginning of Green Light Media Services, we’ve had the pleasure of working with the best vendors and mentors in the industry. I was given the chance to learn the business and production sides from a growing local videography company here in the DFW area, and I’ve been so grateful to my mentor ever since. We have been so fortunate in having great clients over the years who really support our growing company.
