Today we’d like to introduce you to William “WillieTForATrack” Thomas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I would have to say my music production journey got its start in the cafeteria of Lake Highlands Junior high were I was known for making beats by hand with two pens, humming melodies (Beat Box) while the rappers freestyled over the beat. I didn’t know how to how beats were really made at this time, I didn’t even know anyone who made beat actually other than the rappers at school.
So I posed as a rapper for a year or two linked with producers asked lots of questions, took notes on what software, and gear I needed to get started, and once I built my first production setup in my bedroom my career as a rapper ended. Over the years the passion for my craft grew and lead me to take music classes at a community college TCC in Fort Worth after I furthered my education and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Production from Full Sail University
Most of all I have had the privilege to build relationships, and work with some dope people throughout my journey like my VOTK/DMG Family: MS P (Patricia Zepeda) ,Ms G (Gabriella Zepeda), Billy Zepeda, Nate Edwards,AP (Anthony Paul), Darryl Ethley, Left Field (Steven Franklin)
Huge shoutouts my production Family “THE FYRM” – John Camp, Billy Syn, R.O.T.T (RASKAL ON THA TRACK), NameBrand, Lefty McGuinness, Angelo. Big shout outs to my Lil Bro Aural “Subtonic” Baker talented mixing engineer on the rise in Dallas, Rodney and Vicki Bakers I appreciate the support you have shown me over the years. Thanks to Lamar A dot Thomas for the opportunity to work on his album Aura I producer Track 10- Love Me, and Thanks to Alsace Carcione for the opportunity to produce her single “Still.” Be on the lookout for first quarter releases from VOTK/DMG.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I had a lot of setbacks along this ride. First one was a hard lesson on not properly backing my sessions on external hard drives. I’ve lost tons of tracks due to this. The second setback really hurt the most when my apartment got robbed back in 2009, and my laptop with some gear was stolen. This set me back the rest of the year and I actually quite making Music.
But it was the beat from Power By Kanye West that got me inspired and also finding out that the person who produced it live in Dallas (S1) this inspired me to pursue music again and I have been moving forward ever since. Only people close to me know that so yall got an exclusive. Lol
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into THE FYRM story. Tell us more about the business.
