Meet Trailblazer Muriel West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Muriel West.

Muriel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Navigating through young adult life is pretty difficult, and I’ve made countless mistakes so far through it. I’ve had plenty of experiences through dating and being in relationships that I figured someone, even if it was just one person, could relate to me and learn from my mistakes. This is how MWestStyle was born and I chose to focus on my own journey and how I embraced my single season all while offering encouragement to my fellow single sisters. Seeing how much my life has changed in such a short amount of time has been absolutely amazing and there is just so much more I can’t wait to share.

Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started blogging, it came pretty easy to me, even though I had no idea what I was doing, it didn’t seem that hard. It was until my blog turned a year old, I started letting self-doubt and comparing where I was to other bloggers which became my downfall. I took a break from blogging in my second year to get back to my roots and back to the reason I had started and that was to share my testimony! My advice to other bloggers and anyone who wants to start a blog is to focus on your journey and your message. That honestly can be just advice just for life but it’s so important. Also to don’t be scared to fail, there is beauty in failing something and then, trying again and it works.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
So, I’m a Christian and I also love fashion which is how I naturally made the decision to become a Christian Lifestyle/Fashion Blogger and I’ve been a part of the blogging world for about two years now. What really brought attention to my blog is my own personal testimony of going through my single season and talking a lot about that journey. I incorporated fashion into my blog because I loved sharing my own sense of style and wanted to offer tips in that area as well. I’m extremely proud of how far I’ve come so far as a blogger, and the fact that I’ve been able to help other young women and even men with my own experiences. I will be relaunching my blog officially in January 2019 and I’m so excited to share what I’ve been working on for the past few months!

Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mom, of course, if my number one inspiration, she’s truly the epitome of a woman of God, wife, and mother. She’s literally the strongest person I know. My great-grandmother, who passed away in 2016, and my grandmother are also huge inspirations. My great grandma was so feisty and headstrong and I like to think I get my fire and spunkiness from her, my grandmother has such a kind and giving heart and I believe I inherited that from her. Beyoncé is also an inspiration of mine, her work ethic, overall grace, and just how she commands a room is so amazing. Lastly, my girlfriends inspire me daily, I have such an awesome group of girl bosses who I get to call friends that slay literally everything they do and it makes me so proud to even be called their friend.
