Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela D. Smith.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Pamela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started on my journey as an authorpreneur almost ten years ago although I have been writing all of my life. I would sit in my room and read and write for hours, rather than go outside and play. I had these ridiculous ideas and goals for my life that sounded funny to those who didn’t understand them. I would write them down and hide them because I didn’t want anyone to find them and laugh. They seemed so farfetched, so out of reach until about ten years ago when the scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength,” came alive to me. I understood that if writing and reading was therapy for me then I could encourage, equip, and empower others through my writing. I begin self-publishing my books and had so many aspiring authors coming to me asking about the process. I had to go back and realize that I did have a process, a system, that I could use to help others self-publish and go from having a book to building a brand. Thus, RP Smith Agency was birthed.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles have been with trying to force people, who I’m not called to, to understand and support my journey. Sometimes, we use the support of the people who we are close to, as our measuring stick, of how well we are doing. If they don’t buy or support it then we tend to think no one else will, so I will tell young women who are just starting their journey that you have to be willing to find the remnant of people who you are meant to serve and you have to get comfortable with the fact that it may not be those who you are familiar with. Persevere though. “The race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to those who endure until the end.” It will take more than gifts and talent. Your gifts and talents are not operating when you are not persevering when you are not moving when you have given up. Even on the roads that are not smooth, buckle up and keep going!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
The biggest barrier to female leadership is that we are somewhat stuck in the past and man’s definition of what we should/should not be doing. As women, we hold so much greatness back. We are afraid to operate in the fullness of what God equipped us with because we were once told that we couldn’t and now that it’s becoming more common to see women in leadership, we still have these limitations on what our roles should be in leadership but this is the hour, now is the time, where we are going to have to give ourselves permission and tell ourselves, “Woman, yes you can!”
