Meet Charlotte Delaney Riggs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte Delaney Riggs.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started acting when I was eight years old. It all began when I enrolled in a summer theater camp. I ended up booking a lead supporting role in the production of Annie which as a 3rd grader I was one of the youngest cast since the camp went from 2nd to 6th grade.  Usually, the 2nd and 3rd graders are stagehands or production and do not book main or supporting roles.

It was then that I realized I really enjoyed being in the theater and I was really good at it too! The Director recommended for me to continue in theater and even take some acting lessons. I started private acting lessons with Mona Lee, and after about six months of working with her, she referred me to several Texas talent agencies to reach out to.

I reached out to them and ended up signing with TAG-The Atherton Group. Right before signing with them I had my very first audition which I ended up booking a commercial for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Funny thing is that my first commercial was just renewed in 2018 again and is still on TV! After signing with an agent and booking my first commercial, I continued in theater and was in about seven more productions. I also was auditioning more and more for feature films, short films, and commercials.

In 2015, I signed with a new agency, The Tory Christopher Group and shortly after I went out to LA to get a manager and agent there. I signed with a manager The ESI Network in 2016 and an LA agent Kazarian/Measures/Ruskin (KMR). In 2018, I booked my first SAG commercial with Baylor, Scott, and White in Dallas, TX.  I have had many auditions in Dallas, LA, and Austin and in 2018 signed with Collier Talent and now have national representation.

In the five years I have been acting I have been on major film sets for roles in Season 3 of HBO’s The Leftovers, Social Animals, National Geographic’s-The Long Road Home and Alita: Battle Angel. I have had starring and supporting roles in numerous independent feature films  including My Ranger, Tumbleweed, Lil’ Mayne, May I Be at Peace and Kingdom Call as well as several principle roles in national commercials. I have been in several web-series and starred as Supergirl in a Supergirl web series, Angel in the Maximum Ride web-series and Belle in the Calypso web-series.

I have had regular appearances on several other web-series including New Sky Kids, Kaylee Bug TV, Lumi Learning and Black Hole Humor and I appeared in Rooster Teeth’s Million Dollars, But… I gained extensive theater experience during these five years and often enjoy playing complex comedic and dark leads. I have a ton of film, TV, internet, modeling, music video and web series experience and over the past year have really enjoyed modeling as well as acting.

I have been in films in different genres including Horror, Sci-Fi, Action, Drama, Comedy, Western, Fantasy, Musicals, Shakespeare, War, and Historical. Since training with Mona Lee I have also trained under Marco Perella (TX), Saxon Trainor (LA), Lori Lively (LA), John D’Aquino (LA) and Sara/Will Wallace (LA). I have taken casting director workshops with Brock Allen and Sara Dowling.  I am currently working as the main character in a Harry Potter Film.

In 2019, I also have filmed two teasers for upcoming films in Dallas including the films Imagine and Forever and a Day. I am rumored to be working on a Feature Drama, Sci-Fi and Western film. In my free time, I love Cosplay and Makeup. I hope to Write and Direct my own films in the near future.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been smooth. Although I do book roles, there are so many auditions that I have gone to book those roles. I had over 40 auditions in 2018 which is almost one audition a week. For each of these auditions, you must be prepared and off book (all lines memorized). Sometimes you only get a day or two to prepare for the audition. This can be stressful.

Also, when you get a callback, you are expected to drop everything and go for the callback which can be in TX or somewhere else. I have had to put other things on hold for acting and sometimes miss things that are important to me like cheerleading camp. It can also be frustrating to give an audition your all and get so close but not book a role.

Sometimes it comes down to appearance or something else minor that you cannot change and not solely based on your performance or acting ability. Also, being an actress is not easy, shoot days are long, and you always have to give each take your best because film is forever.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a teen actress and model. I have a lot of set experience and am a young professional that is fun to work with. I am mature and a perfectionist when it comes to my work and am also a very hard worker.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel Dallas is a great place for actors and models and the film community. Although Austin is usually seen as the film city in Texas, there is a ton of work in Dallas, TX and some great talent agencies as well!

I think TX needs to incentivize so more large productions will come to our great State. I think Dallas is a great place for someone to start out and be discovered as well.
