Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott and Joel Bayer.
Scott and Joel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are originally from a town called Gainesville but moved to Dallas in 2004. We grew up in the construction business working with our dad, Dale, who is a master builder. Originally, we came to work as PA’s for various photo studios around Dallas but realized quickly that with the training in construction we learned from our dad that we were really passionate about building sets and props. In 2008, we decided to leave the freelance world and open up our own shop. At the beginning of BBS, we were working out of our home, expanded into a small shop outside of Irving and now work out of 20,000 sq ft space outside of the Design District.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Luckily, we have each other to lean on and a really amazing team of people around us! Every project that we take on, brings its own set of challenges, but we thrive on meeting those head on!
Please tell us about Bayer Brothers Sets.
We are a creative construction company with an emphasis on special events, trade shows and set design for film and photography. We work with local and national clients on projects that range in scale from a small tray to photograph a ring on for Neiman Marcus, to creating a fantasy wedding for a couple in Houston, to shipping out window displays for Hermes all over the US. No matter the size of the project, we are hyper-focused on making sure every detail goes noticed. One thing that we are really proud of is that this is truly a family business.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
We both grew up working with our dad. Learning from him and spending time with him is something we both will always remember.
