Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Nichele and Crisko Brown.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We born entertainers. It’s just something that’s embedded deep in both of us, right along with our love for music.
I (Anna Nichele) wrote my first poem in 5th grade and my first song in 6th. Wasn’t much of anything, but it was mine. I kept diaries of songs and poems all my life. Only the people super closest to me knew about my poem & songwriting because I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to share it… as an entertainer. Years passed, I continued to entertain the thought of sharing my craft from time to time but outside of actually recording, I didn’t take much initiative. Until I met Crisko. He really inspired me to take the next step and to really own my craft. Fast forward to now, we have just finished up our first joint EP which releases February 2019 and I am working on my own solo EP I hope to release for Summer 2019.
Me, (Crisko Brown) well, I always wrote music and messed around with the idea, but just as a hobby. Then PTC, Prime Time Click, hand picked me to be apart of the “Do The Muscle” single and since that moment I just started really getting into the music to see where it may lead. I have now released five mixtapes, finished up a joint EP and I’m working on some new music to release for the Spring & Summer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been enlightening, to say the least. We still have a ton of room to grow and a ways to go, but so far its been both tough and rewarding. As an independent artist, we are responsible for everything that pertains to our brand: purchasing beats, studio time, mixing, mastering, distribution, graphic design, artist development, marketing, promotion, performances, choreography, music videos, equipment, wardrobe, makeup, hair, etc. It can get overwhelming and expensive trying to balance our regular professional and family lives as well as our music careers but the end goal makes it all worthwhile and it honestly makes us closer as a couple. The satisfaction we get as artists to express ourselves is super rewarding. And to just be able to be who we are and do what we love amazes us.
Anna Nichele and Crisko Brown – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are what we like to call, performance athletes. We both write our own music and we rap. We are both individually known for our vibrant personalities and exquisite taste which carries over into our artistry. We have a very strong presence and being an emerging power couple in the music industry definitely sets us apart from everyone else.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment would be the love and reaction we received when we released our second single “No Smoke” from our EP, back in November. The promotion created a great anticipation that was exciting for not only us but our fans and supporters as well. We received double the positive energy and feedback and ultimately gained new supporters, while our stats for ‘No Smoke’ exceeded our debut single ‘Conceited” in less than a month’s time.
