Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Donaldson.
Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For my sixth birthday, my parents gave me a “hair chair” for my dolls. I would spend hours playing in my pretend salon that I called ‘Beautiful People’. I loved making sure that my ‘guests’ felt pretty. While one doll sat in the chair, I would line up several more with magazines and snacks to make sure that they were comfortable while they waited for their ‘appointment’.
In March of 2017, I opened my own suite and started my own business, “Simply Sarah Jane”. The focus of my business is special occasion hair and makeup; while still servicing my guests with ‘routine’ beauty treatments that would help them to recognize their own beauty within!
By God’s grace and with plenty of hard work, I am blessed to say my business has boomed in the last two years with no limit in sight. I have had the opportunity to meet so many beautiful brides and some truly amazing vendors!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, my biggest struggle has been within myself and overcoming my own insecurities. I have learned over the years that it’s ok to go outside of my comfort zone and that I am meant to be doing the job that I am doing, God has given me a gift that I am able to use to His glory. It hasn’t always been easy but it has definitely been worth it!
Simply Sarah Jane – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in bridal hair and traditional makeup. I am most proud of my recent award from Wedding Wire for “2019 Couples Choice Award”. I believe what sets me apart is that I truly love my job and I will do everything possible to ensure my clients are happy. My goal is to help my brides realize their dreams of being beautiful on their special day.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success through my brides and clients. The look on the face of my client once I have performed a service and you can see that they genuinely love it, means the world to me! When I get to see the wedding pictures and see just how stunning the bride was-knowing that I had a hand in their most special day is truly remarkable.
I work hard to set goals and track as much as I can to help my business continue to grow.
