Meet Naeem Abuassaf of Naeem’s Acupuncture in Far North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naeem Abuassaf.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Naeem. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Back in the late 90’s I was a medical doctor in Syria when my father developed severe hearing loss that modern medicine had no care for. I researched and found that Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture had the ability to potentially cure him but there were no acupuncturists in province in Syria. I took it as a challenge to learn as much as I could and when I found the points that were described in my research I went ahead and tried in on him with sterilized sewing needles. Much to both of our surprise, it actually worked, and he regained his hearing. To me, at the time, it just seemed miraculous and my interest in non-evasive means of healing was born.

I came to the United States in early 2000 to study acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and completely left my traditional medical career behind in order to pursue this fascinating form of medicine.

I met my wife Michelle in 2009 after working as an acupuncturist in California for several years and she convinced me to move to Texas and start Naeem’s Acupuncture. It was a great decision for us to grow and expand people’s knowledge of acupuncture in an area where most people had no idea what acupuncture can do.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was a bit of a rocky road at first, as most people are fearful of acupuncture, as they think needles “Must Hurt”.

Once they realize they are actually more like an incredibly fine wire and that it isn’t painful, and actually relaxing, they tell all their friends and coworkers they have to try it.

Growing was often slow, but after a while, the referrals kept pouring in and from as far away as Oklahoma. We’ve really been blessed with the reception and loyalty our patients have shown us.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Naeem’s Acupuncture – what should we know?
Naeem’s Acupuncture is a Holistic Clinic. First and foremost, we use acupuncture to treat numerous different pain issues. Everything from headaches, back pain and neurological issues to more complex issues, such as digestive problems, Shingles, Bell’s Palsy, and Multiple Sclerosis. As of late, one of our main focuses has been on relieving Anxiety. It is so incredibly wide spread and debilitating to so many people, I became certified in Neurolinguistic Programming as well as Hypnotherapy in order to better help with this prevalent issue we all seem to have at some point in our lives.

What I am most proud of is my continued pursuit to rid as many people as I can of the things that are holding them back from their enjoyment of this beautiful world, whether pain, sickness or psychological. Whenever I am able to help someone change their life I feel I have accomplished something great, that makes any other struggle in my life worth it.

Our approach of healing first and foremost, is what sets us apart. I use a combination of my Oriental Medicine training along with my Traditional Medical training to achieve the best possible results for my patients. Unlike other doctors or acupuncturists, we feel that if by the 3rd session, if you aren’t feeling a difference, we would not suggest you continue. It just saddens us to hear so many stories from people about having spent so much money on therapies with no results. Because of this, we refuse to sell packages unless it is working for the patient and they request it.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife Michelle has been crucial in all aspects of the business. She has done all the behind the scenes work that determine the starting and success of the business, from creating our website, advertising, and being the first point of contact for all of our patients. When people call, she patiently answers all their questions and allays any of the fears they might have about trying acupuncture. Her empathetic nature always seems to put everyone at ease.

On a personal level, she has encouraged me to learn new modalities to further help my patients and has always been there with her love and support. She shares the same passion for healing, which makes us an incredible team.
