Today we’d like to introduce you to LaKisha Avery-Stewart.
Mrs. LaKisha Avery-Stewart, a native of TX, has been writing since she was in middle school. Her writing started with poetry, then plays, books, and now web series. Mrs. Avery-Stewart always had a passion for writing and acting.
She started on that path by attending KD Studio’s where she earned her Associates Degree in Performing Arts. She went on and earned her BA in Arts and Performance from UTD. She not only perfected her acting and writing skills but also received experience in the directing field.
Some of her writing and directing projects includes ”Teen Survival” “Christmas our Way,” ”It’s not mine,” “When Sunday Comes,” ”Get Your Life Back,” “From Passion to Purpose,” “The Dead Walking,” “Bound by Choices”, and “After her Soul left.”
Her acting resume includes “Fences,” “Here We Are,” “Running Gaim,” “Every Secret Thing,” “Who Do I Trust,” and “Teen Survival.” She has two books under her belt, “Bound by Choices” and “Trisy’s Secrets.”
In her free time, LaKisha spends it with her family. Being in the Christian setting not only gave LaKisha the faith to continue on this journey but the courage as well. With that in mind, she knows in her heart that with God, nothing is impossible, and He is the one that is directing her path. Keep your eyes open and your ears clean because Mrs. Avery-Stewart is on fire pursuing her dreams.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth. Being a wife, mother, and working a full-time job makes the journey a little rough. I must say the support from my family make those rough times easier to deal with. The different personalities that I encounter throughout the years made me question if I wanted to do what I do. The passion that I have for it outweighed the negative energy that passes through from time to time.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LAS Entertainment story. Tell us more about the business.
LAS Entertainment is a company that brings entertainment via, plays, books, and now video. We are known for our two stageplays, ‘Bound by Choices’ and ‘After her Soul left.’ We have books for those who love to read, ‘Bound by Choices’ and ‘Trisy’s Secrets.
We are in the process of filming our first web series “#Different.’ If you have an idea, that you want to put on paper, LAS Entertainment can help you with that. What sets us apart is the desire to serve. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve heard nothing but positivity about how we treat the individuals we do business with, and the viewers love the material that we put out.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Not for sure if I can label it, but the experience, in general, has shaped my mind on how I handle my business and who I prefer to do business with.
I guess I can say that I’ve been lucky to have encountered more positive individuals on this journey than negative ones. Even though the negative energy only empowers me to become better.
