Today we’d like to introduce you to Sed B.
Sed, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in a small town by the name of Battle Creek, Mi or as we call it the cereal city. Growing up in Michigan I was always in the salon day in day out watching my aunt make magic, it was like our family nesting spot. My aunt taught me the hair game and my grandmother taught me the corporate game being though she was with Kellogg’s for years.
I do come from a family of entrepreneurs but, hair was the most prominent trade we had. As time went on and through family growth, I found myself here in Dallas Texas. Here I found myself in Ogle Beauty College following in my families foot steps. Following my graduation, I met two beautiful spirits by the names of Honey George & Tha Hair Trap.
From then on, Seductive Beauty was born and I became Sed Bezzy or Mr. Sed B if you got it. Hair is my passion it comes to me like second nature. You know how when you pick up a pencil to write, no matter what you know the words are going to flow on paper! Hair fuels me it gives me the energy I need to keep going.
I have worked with some of the heavy hitters in the industry. Old school to new school I feel as though I have touched many people and I have so much more to give to this industry. Right now I am a co partner in a salon here in Texas but, I also have many projects in the works.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In no way shape, form or fashion has it been a smooth road for me. I have learned through growth and development as well as many others, to be better than I was yesterday. I mentioned earlier that I come from a small town and in small towns, most of the time people never leave.
I had many challenges with the transition to a big city. For me, I was blessed by someone by the name of Bryan Sparkman who is also an amazing writer, he taught me skills needed in order to survive and succeed. Communication, privacy, consistency, and dedication to who I am and where I want to be.
People in larger city’s move to a different beat, you have to be ready to go at all time, and I struggled with being that guy. I have also always been friendly and big giver but, I have learned that you have to be firm and discipline never letting anything stop you from your goals.
Please tell us about Seductive Beauty.
My baby my business is Seductive Beauty, this is the umbrella company that houses all of my other business babies. I have a few projects in the works as far as hair care products and a clothing line. My first love is and will always be hair which has opened many doors for me and many other things.
I also co-own a hair salon here in the DFW metro-plex, my buiness partner and I Ms. Tina run Purity “A Hair Lounge Company.” I have branded myself as a natural hair stylist, I specialize in pure and healthy hair growth. I am known for protective styles and growing hair fuller, longer and a great deal of body.
I am most proud of the growth within myself as well as my brand. I say growth because when people see me, they respect what I stand behind. My clients, as well as my fellow industry brothers and sisters, know that I am who I say I am and I give quality behind all that I do.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
To be honest, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I also believe that timing is everything so I wouldn’t do anything differently.
I blessed and fortunate enough to learn a lot of things at the age of 28. I think that right now I’m where I’m supposed to be and things are in motion for me to do more.
