Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Phillips.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In the summer of 2010, I started working within the custom invitation and paper business of mathes and co events called the mathes collection.
I spent about eight years working with the company and grew from working as an assistant to managing the invitation business. I always dreamed that one day I would be a business owner and have something that I could grow of my own.
In March of 2018, I left the M collection and launched Bungalow Paper and Design. I’ve been lucky to continue many of my relationships with existing clients as well as have had the opportunity to work with many new wonderful clients!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Taking the risk to go out on your own and start a new business is never an easy decision. I contemplated the idea over a few years, and the timing just never felt right until one day – it just did. I am extremely fortunate of the relationship I have with the team at mathes and co events. Not only have they been super supportive of my new venture, but we’ve been able to collaborate on projects over the past year to create some really amazing printed pieces.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Bungalow Paper and Design is a boutique custom invitation and design company. I work with clients to create wedding invitations, baby announcements, social invitations, stationery, and holiday cards – just to name a few!
One of my most favorite perks of the job is developing lasting relationships with my clients. It’s so fun to look back on a client and see how I’ve worked with them to create special keepsakes throughout their monumental life events like wedding invitations, baby announcements and milestone birthday invitations.
I not only work with amazing clients but also an incredible group of printers and vendors – local and nationwide! It’s because of these relationships that the sky really is the limit when it comes to designing projects with clients. There really isn’t anything that Bungalow can’t make possible!
Now that Bungalow has been in business for a year come March 2019, I am working on creating a line of stationery, cards, and invitations to sell through my website that will accommodate clients who may not want to go through the custom design process.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always into art. I loved arts and crafts, drawing, painting, scrapbooking – really creating anything! I’m lucky to now have a career that allows me to use my creativity to help others.
