Today we’d like to introduce you to Milana Davis.
Milana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Where do I begin?! I have always had a love for fashion and style. I think that personal style is a way for people to express themselves and I’m so glad that I’m able to help others do that through Lemon Rose Label.
I started my online boutique after taking a leap with my career. I wanted to create a place where women could go to find fashionable pieces for an affordable price. This journey has not been easy, but I am so thankful that I believed in myself enough to open my boutique.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t been the smoothest, but I have learned so much along the way. When I first decided that I was going to open an online boutique, I had no idea how to run a business, especially one in retail. I actually had my business license for months before officially working on my shop. I was so afraid of failure and not knowing where to begin that I just kept pushing it off.
Eventually, I let my faith outweigh my fear, and I just went for it. I didn’t know how to build an e-commerce site or manage retail/inventory, but I did a ton of research and figured it out. I didn’t know about shopping for items, how to market a retail site, taxes, etc. but I educated myself.
I still have my struggles, but I’ve been figuring it out as I go. I’ve been blessed enough to have supportive friends and family along the way. I’m also so thankful for the supportive friends in the industry that I know. This is only the beginning of my journey.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lemon Rose Label story. Tell us more about the business.
My online boutique Lemon Rose Label specializes in women’s contemporary and trendy clothing. My goal with the shop is to be a place for women to turn to for fashionable pieces at an affordable price. Everything is hand picked by me.
I want women to know that they don’t have to look a certain way, act a certain way or make a certain amount to purchase from LRL. I hold diversity and inclusivity up high when it comes to LRL.
When people see my online boutique, I want them to know that. You’re accepted as you are when you shop with Lemon Rose Label.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the fashion/clothing industry continuing to grow over the next few years, especially in e-commerce. More people are shopping from the comfort of their home, so that gives online based businesses an advantage. Even though the industry will probably become more saturated as time goes on, I’m determined to figure out ways to stand out.
