Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Brooks.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebekah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started acting young, and eventually realized I wanted to further my career and be a film actress. I began finding small local roles, which led me to network and meeting new people to land bigger roles.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think it’s ever a smooth road, because if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. It takes sacrifice and perseverance to be a hard worker and to get where you want to get. I always say “If you do what everyone else does, you will have what everyone else has.”
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into #GirlBoss Article story. Tell us more about the business.
I’ve been told my persistence gets me to where I need to be. I always try my hardest to get where I am today. If I find a role I would like to be in, I will do my best and work my hardest to get that role and keep working even after succeeding. Never giving up.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Facebook! Surprisingly, so many filmmakers are looking for local actors all the time in the DFW area. Finding different acting groups on Facebook is the easiest and best way.
