Life and Work with Haylie Paige Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haylie Paige Jackson.

Haylie Paige, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My grandmother has always said that she knew I was going to be a wedding planner from the day I was born but since tea parties and themed birthday bashes really do not count, my experience in planning really began my Sophomore year at Texas Christian University. I started by interning at some of the top companies in the Dallas wedding industry and instantly fell in love with wedding planning. After graduating from the Neely School of Business at TCU and having a few years of experience as a Lead Wedding and Event Coordinator at other planning companies under my belt, I decided to start my own company! Haylie Paige Events! I could not be happier with my decision to start my own wedding planning company and I have loved every second of it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think one of the hardest challenges facing young women (and men) is that you are expected to know exactly who you are and what you want to do with your life before you even graduate from college. I knew that I was extremely organized, loved planning and had experience with wedding/event planning through internships but finding my way to where I am now as a business owner was tough! One of the things that I will always be thankful for is all of the experience I gained from my internships and first few jobs after I graduated from TCU because all of that led me to where I am today. I think that it is okay and even normal, for young women to not have a perfect 5-10 year plan laid out in front them when they graduate because the majority of their experience and personal development happens after college, it did for me anyway! That being said, I definitely think that you get there by doing as many internships as you can throughout your time in college, traveling the world and actively seeking a career you are passionate about because you will never know if you love or hate a job or a new city until you try it!

Please tell us about Haylie Paige Events.
My company, Haylie Paige Events, is a Dallas based wedding and event planning company that specializes in creating a unique, beautiful and seamless event from start to finish. While I offer event planning as well, I specialize in full-service wedding planning which means I am involved in every aspect of the planning process with my bride and groom from picking a date and location to the send-off at the end of the reception. Wedding planning is not a hobby for me, it is my full-time job and passion and I strive to give each and every one of my clients the attention, creativity, and love that I would not only want but expect, for myself or my little sister if roles were reversed. One of my favorite things about my job is the relationships I create with my brides, mothers and fathers of the bride, grooms, bridesmaids, siblings (the list goes on!) and the trust that forms from this because wedding planning should be a fun and happy process all about celebrating love… not filled with stress about the budget, worrying if your dream flowers are being set on the linens you picked out or wondering if you are on time on the day of your wedding. My love for wedding planning is evident throughout the entire process and is something that I think truly sets me apart in my industry!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I love a good blog, Instagram page or wedding magazine just as much as the next person but I think what helps me do my best in life and work is family, mentors, and friends. Instagram, blogs, and magazines are wonderful for staying up to date with the world, keeping up with trends and coming up with new, unique ideas but the support and encouragement from the most important people in my life is what makes me who I am and continues to motivate me to be a better person and wedding planner.
