Life and Work with Asia Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Allen.

Asia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I wanted to be a model and actress since my high school days, but never knew where to start my journey so it quickly became an afterthought. After my first year of college, I decided to move to Las Vegas and try my luck there by submitting for castings and different model searches in the area. This soon took a complete turn when I met my husband shortly after and we started our impromptu family. Once my life AND body changed, I figured my model goals and dreams were finished.

I was given the opportunity to walk in my very first fashion show in November of 2018 which completely changed my outlook on the modeling and fashion industry. As I began to do my research, I discovered that the standards of beauty set forth by society had morphed into something entirely different than what I had remembered. Not only plus size, but acceptance of all things different was now in demand. Since then, I have hit the ground running and am determined to succeed in the modeling and acting industry as well as break barriers when it comes to color bias.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been obstacles I’ve faced along the way. Most have been my own self-doubt and not believing that I could achieve my goals. Others have been learning how to deal with rejection and sifting through the scams.

I would definitely advise anyone starting out to do your research! Know what you’re getting yourself into and how to properly present yourself. Know how to be professional in person and when you’re submitting yourself for opportunities online. Know what type of model you want to be (commercial, print, runway, etc.).

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a published model and actress in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I’ve ripped the runway, been published in a few magazines, done stage play, and have some commercial and short film projects in the works. I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve accomplished so much in such a short period of time since I seriously started pursuing my career.

My drive, determination, personality, character, professionalism, and look definitely set me apart from others. I’ve always been told that I have a unique look, which I initially felt was a negative thing, but who really wants a carbon copy of someone we’ve already seen?

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Shout out to image resizer for always helping me get the full shot in my posts! Honestly, being a wife, mother, full-time student, praise team member, and actively pursuing acting and modeling, I haven’t had the time to read a good book or listen to a podcast as of late. My faith really helps me get through life and work.

Social media platforms have definitely helped with building my career and following as well.
