Meet Taylor Doyle of The Floral Eclectic in Euless

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Doyle.

Taylor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a kid, my parents deemed me a “flower stealer” because I would always pick the flowers out of other peoples yards and bring them home and decorate things with them! I knew I loved flowers but up until a couple of years ago, I didn’t put it together that it was a job I could have. I worked in retail and learned a lot about my personal work ethic but hated every minute of it because of the lack of creativity it offered me. After I spent a big chunk of my working life in retail and customer service, I decided, I couldn’t do it anymore and sought out a job that allowed me to use my natural eye for design. After a couple of years here and there at flower shops I came to another conclusion, I don’t like forking for the Man! So my only solution was to step out on my own and from that The Floral Eclectic was born.

Has it been a smooth road?
You’d be hard pressed to find an entrepreneur that would call their journey smooth and I’m no exception. My universal struggle has been convincing people that they can trust me and my vision. Trust is something that has to be earned though, so I’ve spent many unpaid hours and bought many flowers with my own money to show people that I *sort of* know what I’m doing! It’s difficult when people want you to have experience before you work for them, but you can’t get experience unless you work for people. Luckily, some gems over time have taken a chance on me and I’ll be forever grateful!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Floral Eclectic story. Tell us more about the business.
Under the name The Floral Eclectic, I specialize in designing and styling weddings and events. I’m known for using unexpected elements in my work and love to put things together that you wouldn’t necessarily imagine would look good together! I’m proud of the uniqueness I’ve been able to express as such a new floral designer in the industry and I hope I can keep surprising everyone! It’s my goal to create something and have people know without a doubt that it was The Floral Eclectic!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
There is a movement towards using less floral foam to decrease the impact we have on the environment. I can see some mechanics changing as we keep trying to push ourselves to create less waste! Other than that, Floral follows wedding trends so any changes you see will be reflected in the entire industry!
