Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Oliphant.
Anthony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been creative since I was a kid. I always tried to improvise and put my personal touch on everything I came across. My interest in photography started because I owned a camera I would use for my best friend and I’s clothing brand Forever Motivated Apparel. I would use the camera to shoot models wearing our gear. I found a love for creating an image that I put together. In October of 2017, a good friend called and asked me if I wanted to be a busser at this new night club in Fort Worth. I didn’t have a job at the time, so I took the offer. I surrounded myself with the community and met key people. It helped me build a solid audience for what I do. It was in July 2018 when we had a pretty well-known DJ, Skyler Madison, come into the club. I had the chance to shoot pictures of her and edited them that night. I wanted to see if I had what it takes to get the attention of someone with hundreds of photographers contacting them. I woke up that morning to find that she followed me and loved the work I did. It was at this point that I knew I could take this seriously and go far with it. A couple of months later, I had the opportunity to go on tour with her and travel to Florida. It was an amazing experience being able to shoot in another city. When I got back to Fort Worth, I started contacting my friends to be my models so I could practice my craft. Every day, I learned and experienced more and more. I have now shot with a lot of DJ’s, a couple of clubs, and had the opportunity to shoot at Sheck Wes’ after party in Dallas. I am only really getting started because this is my seventh month of being a photographer. I’m excited to be doing this as a job. I plan to work with millions of people and put my style out there for others to check out and vibe with.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s actually been fairly smooth because I’m thankful for being in the places knowing the people I did at the time. Just like everything. It wasn’t easy I’ve had to prove myself. Struggles I’ve had was doing everything from my phone as far as editing and what not.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Lucidvisualzz is what I go by and I’ve done really everything from weddings to shooting on tour for DJ’s I love setting up shoots around the city just to show the cool places I find around the city. I definitely specialize in lowlight situations because I started all of this shooting I’m a nightclub so I had to learn how to shoot in the dark just with the lights playing as my flash. Mostly proud of how everything has played out for me in a short period of time, I can’t wait to see what the future holds because I’m all in with this. I definitely believe my creative eye sets me apart from other photographers because I can pity make something out of nothing that’s how I had to do all of this because I had nothing but the camera when I first started.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely think Dallas/Fort Worth is a good place to start because as the population grows here there will be more opportunities for growth here, so I would definitely advise everyone starting to get out there and just network your talents and it will all work in your favor.
