Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Guidry.
Ashley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a co-owner of a makeup business in 2013, we branded ourselves and sold our own product, I was super passionate about building this business. After going through a few life-changing events, I decided to relocate from New Orleans to Houston and started over from scratch. I have always had a passion for eyebrows so I decided to pursue microblading. I started in Houston working out of my spare bedroom, I did a lot of free work/practice before I started taking paid clients. I never felt the love and support I needed to feel confident about my business success in Houston, so I decided to move to Dallas and open shop! It has been so amazing, I have received so much support from strangers and my business is growing into what I always wanted it to be!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building a business has been just what it should be. Ups and downs, the hardest part was getting my shop operating. Once you are operating, the work never ends. I offer a yearly service so the hardest thing is getting new clients in. Microblading is artistry so, for the most part, I rely on my work on other people to bring clients in but I also have to do a lot of networking. Staying on top of marketing has been a struggle for me, but I know it will come together.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in reshaping women’s eyebrows using a technique called microblading. Microblading is a semi permeant cosmetic tattoo which resembles hair strokes. I take pride in giving my clients the ultimate natural eyebrows. I do not want people to notice the microblading but notice the beautiful natural look of my clients’ eyebrows and wonder!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is when you are constantly moving forward and always growing as a business or as a person. I have short and long term goals set for my business, as long as I am moving closer to those goals, I have been and will be successful!
