Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathia Hernandez.
Kathia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My passion for beauty has always been in me, it started growing to the point where I decided I wanted to make it my career.
In 2017, I started freelancing as a makeup artist when I moved in with my husband to California, I was a stay at home mom to a one-year-old at the time, I would watch YouTube videos, and I would practice different makeup techniques on myself, trying to recreate looks I would find on Instagram. But at a certain point wanted to practice my makeup skills on someone else other than myself.
Little by little I started getting people, more practice. Enhancing others’ natural beauty made my heart happy. I eventually came back to Texas followed my heart and pursued my passion, just recently graduated Esthetician school in February. I’m a proud Paul Mitchell graduate and a Licensed Esthetician.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Makeup is my art. I enhance people’s natural beauty through makeup. I truly believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way. Something I always tell others is to love themselves, they need to learn how to love themselves before the can love and appreciate someone else. They need to feel beautiful before they try to make others feel that way.
“Love yourself. It is important to stay positive because beauty comes from the inside out.” -Jenn Proske
Inspiration starts flowing the moment I set the first brush on my human canvas. My artwork is my passion.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Always follow your heart, accomplish your dreams, don’t let anyone stop you.
Go out and do what you love, and love what you do.
Life is short , dream big dreams!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work by checking out my social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook.
The biggest support would be people letting me work with them and also, I am willing to work with nonprofit organizations to give back to the community.
