Life and Work with Christi Tracy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christi Tracy.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my yoga journey about 20 years ago to help manage my anxiety and get some exercise while being a busy mother and entrepreneur. Quickly after I began, I realized yoga was so much more than what I was expecting. I felt like coming home. A place that felt like I was totally me!

The yoga teacher who led the class one day asked if I had any interest in teaching. I sheepishly admitted that I secretly was thinking about it but didn’t know it was possible. She encouraged me to explore yoga teacher training and I jumped right in. While attending the training, I took over the very class I was attending.
In the next few years, I taught an average of ten classes a week in the McKinney/Allen area. I also totally immersed myself in the study of yoga through workshops, trainings, and self-study.

Knowing I wanted to pursue my passion, even more, I decided to start my own teacher training now known as Grow Yoga Teacher Training. For the last six years, I have had the honor of training over 75 teachers who are making a huge impact in the world. My company has expanded to include Life Coaching, Corporate Yoga, Special Events, Motivational Speaking, and Workshops. I’m currently a Lululemon Ambassador.

I am living my best life now and feel extremely grateful for all of my family and friends who bring so much love to my life.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. I had to struggle with my own anxieties and insecurities along the way. Thankfully, I was surrounded by so many wonderful people who encouraged me. I did a lot of things when I was scared anyway. So, if I had any advice it would be “do it even if you are scared.”

Also, “find your tribe.” Find a group of trusted women whom you can trust, vent to and bounce ideas around with.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m known for my yoga teaching and yoga teacher training. I teach weekly classes at Vibe Yoga in Allen, Craig Ranch Yoga in McKinney and The Haven in Richardson.

I think I’m most proud of my gifts of being a great facilitator and motivator. My intuitive gifts have served me very well to be able to see each individual student on a deep level.

My teacher-trainings are very different from many because I truly mentor my students to help them reach their highest potential. So, in addition to teaching all of the anatomy, physiology, history, and methodology, we bring in the elements of exploring the true self. A yoga teacher has to be authentic!

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Oh, this is the BEST time to be a woman! There is so much palatable goddess energy in the Universe right now! This is a time like no other that any woman can achieve anything she dreams. It just takes a lot of dropping the fear (or doing it anyway), stepping into your authentic self and letting go of the fear of being judged. Often with success, others will judge you but that shouldn’t stop or slow you down.
