Meet Amber Jackson of Glitz Optical in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amber. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After being in the optical field for 10+years, I wanted to work with, and introduce lines I felt were designed with everyone in mind.

Fed up with frames not sitting properly on people’s faces, I wanted to find and showcase lines that complimented the faces of all ethnicities and backgrounds.

I also know that a lot of times, frames aren’t fitted properly because convenience takes precedence over functionality; which is why we’ve chosen to be mobile.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a new company trying to break down walls and barriers, I’ve always kept the mindset that “what didn’t work, will actually work in your favor.”

In the beginning, I envisioned the company having a traditional storefront location, but because Texas is a two-door state, the Optometrist and I couldn’t partner the way we wanted to. So, I decided to just go mobile until I could find a way to get a location funded.

In doing so, I found a great need from on-the-go professionals that really appreciated having a representative come to them.  They don’t have the time to be just another person waiting for someone to help them in a traditional optical gallery but yet style and personalization is still very much important to our clients. I found that being mobile not only reduced my overhead cost, but allowed the client the freedom to schedule a stylist to come to them, wherever they might be in the DFW area.

It simply made sense. So, therefore, we decided to stay mobile and brand ourselves in this manner. Glitz Optical is the first of its kind in the DFW area and the concept has been well received by our growing clientele.

Glitz Optical – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a mobile, full service optical in the DFW area. From frame styling, prescription lenses, polarized options and custom tints we fill them all.

We are known for offering unique brands of frames that fit people from various ethnicities and caters to different facial structures.

I’m most proud of our dedication to our clients through the brands we choose to showcase amongst our collection. In addition to premium brands like DreamHimax, we’re also introducing a luxury brand like @Bohten that’s manufactured in Ghana. We want the direction of the company to be clear and to show where we’re headed.

What sets us apart is that you get the convenience of ordering online, without sacrificing the professionalism you need when it comes to your glasses. Having a stylist meet you at your home or office and providing a personal consultation makes all the difference. We also accept HSA and FSA which is a big plus for our company and the clients we serve.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success by being dedicated to the process. Success is something you should aim to perfect upon which each guest experience. My criteria includes, the product must be quality, the service must be exceptional and the experience has to be consistent. We’re looking at our client’s face how an artist looks at a blank canvas… ready to create a masterpiece.
