Meet Ida Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ida Brown.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ida. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I taught myself how to draw at a very young age, around 11. I’ve been hooked to creating ever since. At a younger age, I started with just pencil to paper, then moved to other mediums such as watercolor, colored pencil and acrylic paints. When I was graduating high school, I knew I wanted to work professionally as an artist. So upon high school graduation, I attended the Art Institute of Dallas. I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts, with a major in Graphic Design. Since then on I’ve been creating in both traditional and digital mediums.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wouldn’t been a smooth road. Art is a very interesting topic that I think most people still don’t understand. As I mentioned before I’ve been wanting to do art my entire life. With that, I was met with a lot of skepticism of if being an artist was a real career choice. I struggled with explaining to people the vision I had of being an artist, but I never doubted the fact that would be creating as a career. And as an artist, I think we tap into our life’s struggles as inspiration. I’ve had my ups and downs, but art has always been something I can depend on to help me persevere through any obstacles.
