Meet Pablo Calzada of Taco Connoisseur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pablo Calzada.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Pablo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Mexico City. My family moved to Dallas, TX when I was in my teens. I went to school here, but I also had many jobs while growing up. I worked in restaurants, construction, a Golf course, customer service, collections, banking, promotions, advertising, etc. you name it. I have always been drawn to the creative or artistic. I remember one day I was listening the radio (Spanish radio) while driving my Dad’s truck. I remembered that I used to play that I was on a radio station when I was a kid, I had a tape recorder/radio cassette where I would record my voice and music from the radio, which gave me a crazy idea. The idea was to make a demo and send it to that station. It was a CBS radio station and to my surprise, they were looking for someone to be on the air on the weekends. The guy who hired me like my demo so much that he hired me with no previous experience, so I went in. It was a great experience I had a great time but I also knew that Radio as we know it was dying/changing social media was a new thing. It was great to be in the middle of all of it. I was there for two years.

After that, I started working on TV Production for reality tv, commercials, and scripted series. I remember around that time a lot of taco spot or joints started popping up, some good some not very good. Tacos started to be super trendy, something that I ate since I was a kid now was the cool food of the masses. As a person who was born in Mexico City We are used to eat tacos everywhere there’s all kinds of tacos stands around that city. I’m always looking for that taco spot that would remain me the tacos stand from the street of Mexico City “el taco callejero real” (the real street taco) so I grabbed a camera, mic and I started my search and shared my experiences with you on YouTube and Instagram.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say that nothing is ever easy even if it looks easy. One thing is to be on the air on a radio station where no one sees your face or how you act and a different thing is to be in from of the camera. It hasn’t been a struggle but is definitely something very different than the stuff I usually do. I’m usually in the background but not this time.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Taco Connoisseur – what should we know?
I mostly known for working on Radio and TV but people is starting to notice me for my Taco Connoisseur videos on YouTube. I wouldn’t call taco connoisseur a business but an experiment …my experiment. One of the reasons I started my Taco Connoisseur videos was to create my own online content to test the waters to see what works and what doesn’t and from there apply it on businesses or clients online content. What sets me apart from the rest is that I actually have real Radio, TV and Film experience and is not something that I learned on an online tutorial.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My Parents They have always worked hard to give me the best. My wife I love her she’s super supportive and my brothers and sister. Thank you!
