Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Collier.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve been a maker since I was born. Drawing, sculpting, taking photos, etc.
Homeschooled my whole childhood, I started off playing with Stop Motion. I got my first brand partnership at 16 with a German software company, and I won my first award that same year for a stop motion music video I had premiered on MTV in Europe.
Since then I’ve gone full time with video production. I work with businesses and organizations on their creative marketing and storytelling content.
Please tell us about your art.
I focus on video production with a side of photography and animation.
The driving force behind my passion is perspective, a day in someone else’s shoes. I approach my projects like a documentary, but I love adding a hint of fantasy to my work. I feel like imagination is underrated in today’s content landscape, especially video.
I believe you can document a great and accurate story while enhancing it with a dash of visual fantasy. The goal being to flesh out the world of the subject, while creating a unique window into their mind and soul.
What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
It seems to me that this is a new renaissance for the arts. With zero upfront cost, you can create an entire brand and share it with the world.
I think the only thing holding modern creatives back today is their own lack of discipline. Get out, network, create and share. You can’t go wrong with that.
I think any time a city invests in an infrastructure project; they should hire local artists and influences to help contribute and promote it. Community building is key.
