Meet Jessica Reva of Speech and Feeding of Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Reva.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When my daughter was 2 months old, the doctor referred her to a speech therapist. I could not get an appointment with anyone for months. I knew at that time there was a great need for private practice speech therapy so parents did not have to wait for months to get their child seen. Over the years, I found my love and passion for patients with feeding difficulties along with my passion for teaching. After 10 years at Children’s Health, I decided to make the leap into private practice so I can focus on early childhood development and children with feeding difficulties. In addition, I am building parent trainings to teach parents how to be the therapist at home to augment feeding therapy. In March, I received my LLC and immediately started seeing patients. As of June 1st, I am officially full-time building my private practice. In August, parent trainings will begin to teach parents how to be the therapist at home when they have picky eaters.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I quickly learned that referrals come in waves. One week, there are 7 new referrals. The next week, there are no referrals. Weathering the roller coaster is a new experience for me. I’m learning to stay focused on my mission and trust in God that this is the path I am meant to be on.

Please tell us about Speech and Feeding of Frisco.
As a speech therapist, we have a wide range of disorders we can help with. I specialize in early childhood speech and language development as well as feeding difficulties for children who are struggling with eating. I see patients starting at birth through 18 years of age. We have immediate openings with no wait list. I treat patients in my home with a designated therapy room. I am able to use my kitchen for patients working on sensory feeding. We cook and bake in the kitchen as a way to introduce new foods to their diet.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I loved dancing! I was on my high school drill team and loved performing at football games and our spring shows!
