Meet Trailblazer Mashaila Jaynes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mashaila Jaynes.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. I always knew since I was a little girl, I’ve had a passion in the fashion industry. So, I started working retail jobs, literally almost worked at every store in the parks mall. Later I decided that I wanted to expand and build my brand because people were always interested in my outfits and the way I took my photos. So, I started modeling for local Dallas photographers, created a YouTube channel with look books for every season with popular trends. Then, I finally decided to brand my self with “Styles by Shay” and moved to Dallas to meet and network with different brands and creators and influencers. Now, my brand is becoming stronger and I’m able to be a brand ambassador for different companies and now I am expanding my brand by sharing my talents with people by becoming a personal stylist. Styling models, upcoming artist and friends, and family.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say this was a smooth process but it’s not, it’s actually still a challenge to this day. Being an influencer is a challenging job honestly, it’s not as easy as just taking a picture and posting. It’s a job you have to stay active and connect with different people, you have to stay updated with the trends, and remain positive. When you are in the public light, people don’t expect you to have bad days, but we still do and that’s where the challenge comes because life still happens. My goal is for women to understand that it is okay to still work a 9-5 to help fund their dreams. As long as you still have a clear vision and plan of what you want from that goal, take the steps necessary to achieve them. Also, want women to understand its so many opportunities out here don’t sell yourself short and always carry yourself with respect.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Styles by Shay – what should we know?
My “Styles by Shay” brand is the full course meal!! Lol. I am known to give you the full experience including my outgoing, fun, personable personality. I focus on the entire image you place out into the world from hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, all the way to how you want to brand yourself and make it better. I’m all about enhancing your image, we are all stars and can all shine brighter. I’m proud that people actually believe and support me, that might sound cliche but without the support of my friends, family, clients, and supporters my brand wouldn’t have grown so much. What makes my brand different than others is my personable service. I believe that you sell your brand. People have to be willing to connect with you and create a relationship with you where they can trust your advice. Because anytime you are providing a service where you are helping someone enhance themselves it’s a vulnerable place. For people to trust in me, to help make them a better them, it’s amazing.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
My childhood was pretty regular, I’m blessed to say I haven’t had difficult experiences with that. I come from a family of four kids, and I definitely can say I was the odd one out or the “rebel child.“ My family comes from a Christian background and they always wanted me to be a doctor, lawyer, work in corporate America, graduate with honors. But I always knew that wasn’t the lifestyle for me. I did take some college classes and work in corporate America but it didn’t last my focus has always been fashion. I could never focus in class or work because I’m working on building my brand, researching different popular stylist, and trends that are emerging. Following my dreams has always been a goal and I’m persistent. I couldn’t let no one tell me about my direction in life. It definitely got me in some trouble with my parents, but once they noticed the growth in my brand and I showed them actions, I was talking to reach my goals, they hopped right on the bandwagon and are my biggest supporters.
