Art & Life with Jameel Bagby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameel Bagby.

Jameel, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a 7th-grade science teacher and Head Track Coach at Young jr High. Everyone knows as teachers we get summers off, but they can get pretty boring if you don’t do anything with your time. So one summer I bought a camera, did some research and started shooting. The rest was history. I’ve done photography for about four years now. But, my love for it dates back to when I was a child. I use to go through my Granny’s scrapbooks of pictures and look at the same pictures over & over. It got on her nerves, but she’ll never admit that. Lol. I made Agent28 Photography legit January 2018 and couldn’t be more proud of where I came from and where I’m headed.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Photography is my outlet these days. I’ve done weddings, birthday parties, family photos and other types of lifestyle photography. I aim to make people think, “what was going on when that picture was taken?” just as I did when I was rambling through my Granny’s scrapbooks.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Never be afraid to invest in yourself. I’ve gotten credit cards as well as help from family and friends that believed in me, so I’ve been lucky. But, always go after your dream and never give up on your creative spirit, even when you feel like everything is going against you. Everyone successful has a story of hustle, GO GET IT!! and be humbly confident the whole way through it.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
