Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Alexander-Blythe.
Melissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Creating things was something I always loved to do. I have always had an artistic spirit and I have always had an interest in people and what makes them tick. As a young teen and even through college, I would find myself getting lost people watching. The transition into photography was natural from there. Not only did I get to see people as they are, I could capture the moment. That idea was (and is) so fulfilling to me…hence the photographer in me was born. From there I started playing with photography and darkroom work (yes, I am that old) and when digital photography hit the scene, I jumped in headfirst. Fast forward to a few years later and I started playing with taking photos for friends….5 years later I own my own business, now with my amazing husband as my partner, and I get to take pictures as part of my career and I LOVE it.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been smooth-ish. Starting your own business is always a learning process. The picture part is always easy for me, but as a self-taught, self-starting business, there was a lot for me to learn. Now, with my husband’s background in business and marketing, we are really hitting our stride!

We are full service, on location photographers specializing in natural light work! We go on location, in studio, travel to destinations and take pictures of just about anything. We love doing weddings and babies, but we also enjoy capturing moments for families and events. What sets us apart from others is that we are truly dedicated to creating a fun, REAL experience for our clients. Nothing is really “packaged – we are flexible with what we offer so that we can better meet client needs. And, we love being around people. It is the part of our job that makes us the most happy. We are also a lot of fun and love to help our clients have fun, too!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What we love about the Dallas area is the diversity it offers and the richness of the culture. Dallas gets a bad rap for being an uppity, boujee place. But, the reality is that there is truly depth here. The people, the places, the art, the even the geography of our area is special and we really love so many aspects of DFW.
