Meet Ruth Perez of HMI Texas Pro in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Perez.

Ruth, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am from Veracruz, Mexico, in 2014 with my Cuban husband Rolando Marcelo, we came to live into the US. Louisiana was our first stop. And three years ago we moved to DFW area. We both has been musicians as professionals, I am a performer singer and my husband my music Director. He plays drums, bass, guitar, bongoes.

I went to the College when I was 30 years old, to get my Communications degree, love the advertising and marketing, and used it for us, to promote our Salsa band Sabor Habana traveling around the country (Mèxico). My husband he has two degrees, Engineer and Teacher, and he use to work as a marketing and videographer to promote other artists in Cuba. In Texas, I decided to start a business that mix all our talents, so, I decided to start an E Magazine, 100% digital. Named HAROSHA MAGAZINE Graphics, links and videos included inside. As a Latina my target was the Latino Community. Very fast the people identified me as Harosha, Harosha means Jarocha that meas a person that was born in Veracruz, Mexico.

In 2017, we approached more than 2,500,000 people in North Texas. 90% spanish speakers. Making interviews with my phone and my microphone I was named the crazy phone & Facebook lady! But I did not mind. In 2018, I received the prize Entrepreneur of the year, by popular people voting! With Excelencia Empresarial Hispana. Last year so many people asked me to take their pictures because my pictures were the best they ever had. So I had to buy my professional equipment, always with my husband as a team, I do not only interview people of interest, I do help small businesses with their social media management. I do believe in the social media power and love training my customer to do it their own.

This 2019 has been very productive. I received another two prizes, one as an artist, and one as a social media influencer, because they said I am a “Hispanic pride”. It is not all about business, we do community service, with nonprofits that they ask for our help, and we do it happy and for free. We support Cancer races, Education races, Domestic violence awareness, community information. Businesses training, and some others. As photography and video professionals we do 1 pro-bono event yearly. Last year we celebrated two quinceañeras with sponsorships. This year we were asked for support a lovely quinceañera with bifid spine and hidrocephaly. It was our honor making her happy.

What we believe is: if you have the talent to earn money you also can use your talents to help others. I also started a Facebook group named LATINAS DIVINAS Y EXITOSAS DFW, Divine and success DFW Latinas. We support each others, and learn each others. I am the face of the company, I am Harosha but my husband is always behind me, he is the master mind a lot of times! This is HMI Texas Pro, a multitask company with two multitask latinos as team, helping other to be seen.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not easy at all. But after three years here we are. Now is a lot of people calling for interviews to be seen! Also, I listened some important people saying my Magazine is a Community Magazine and is not. But close, we do not charge for promotion or interviews. If people see you. They will see us! It is a win-win deal. We love seeing people growing their businesses and learning how to succeed with social media and how to have a Healthy face with social media. Same with photography and video. There are too many around DFW but we compete with quality, affordable prices plus quality is a great deal!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the HMI Texas Pro story. Tell us more about the business.

In our website, you can find other DFW professionals. No charges. Is just people who supported us and we decided to give them back something. Somebody told me: I don’t like other people videos or interviews, they are not you! I feel honored, I am an artist but the interviews are not about me, are about my guest or guests.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck? I am a lucky girl, having a wonderful husband and he is a lucky guy having me as a wife. We make it happen. No luck here. Sometimes I have 5 or 6 or 8 meetings in one day. One for the music, one for the photos, one for the magazine. That’s not luck, its HARD WORK.
