Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Ike.
Wendy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started blogging because I wanted to showcase my style and creativity – to express myself. Soon I realized the hard way that it takes a certain level of vulnerability, effort, and confidence to truly and effectively do that. Fast forward to now, I see that the obstacles, doubts, and fears helped me know who I am, what I love to do, and more importantly, why I love to do it. It’s been a slow and steady journey for me, but the satisfaction and freedom I derive from expressing myself makes it worth it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely not been an easy journey for me. It still isn’t, sometimes I compare myself to others, sometimes I create content and because it doesn’t look “Instagram worthy” I look down on my work and as a result, I don’t share them. I feel like I’m not good enough. Sometimes I get scared, I wonder if the content I create is making an impact. When you lose confidence, it’s hard to motivate yourself, and when you are down sometimes, it’s easier to stay down than to try again. There are lots of challenges but these are the most grueling.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wendy Maks – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I do more than one thing. I am a content creator and fashion blogger. My style sets me apart from others and I am most proud of my creativity- styling, and photography. However, the moments I truly feel the most proud are those where I get comments from people on how much something I blogged or a picture I took or a post I shared, impacted their life positively. Those moments are priceless.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Future plans? Definitely to improve in everything I do while staying true to who I am, increase my following and have a recognized and respected brand. Big Changes? None necessarily. I’m always in the moment. Living it, appreciating it. No matter what situation (good or bad), I always make the best out of it and learn from those experiences. Looking forward to how beautiful life can be and all it has to offer.
