Janine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out doing makeup on myself, then family and friends started asking for me to do theirs. Eventually, it turned into taking on clients. At first, I was just into the makeup aspect but as time has passed, I have wanted to expand and provide more beauty services.
I now offer individual lash extensions as part of the JayFace brand. I eventually hope to add Microblading and other beauty services as my business grows.
The beauty industry has so many aspects to it and I feel that everyone needs a chance to feel beautiful and glamorous and I plan to give my contribution to this industry in any way that I can.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road! The beauty industry is saturated with many makeup artists and lash techs. Some days my books are full and others are not. The uncertainty of the business is always a struggle. You may have a full day booked one minute and cancellations back to back the next.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about JayFace – what should we know?
I believe the experience my customers receive is what keeps them coming back. I love educating my clients and providing them with an upscale experience they can rely on, this is what sets me apart from others.
I provide makeup looks for all occasions and individual lashes for all people.
I am proud of the growth my company has experienced over that last two years. From new clients to added services, everything is falling into place like I would like it too.

I have to give a lot of credit to my mother, Daisy and also my best friend, Tosika. They have been supportive of everything I have wanted to do in business and have helped me through the rough patches. Listening to my ideas at all times of the day, physically participating in my learning experiences, and so much more! My biggest supporter, cheerleader, and teammate has been my son, Kris! Every morning he asks me how many clients I have and how he can help prepare for them. He has helped me build, organize, decorate, and shop for just about everything for my company! I would be nowhere without any of them!
