Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShundra Smith.
LaShundra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As long as I can remember, I have enjoyed empowering women. I never dreamed I could create a business doing so until last year. 2018 was a turning point for me as I lost both my parents three months apart and suffered through a lot of heartbreak and isolation shortly after due to further events. This led me to creating a platform to encourage women in their healing and walk with God, thus created Women with Balance. By the end of 2018, I launched a blog and faith-based clothing line called Est. by God. January 2019, I released a book called Clarity: Beauty in Pain and have now launched my first tour “I am Healed” with some phenomenal ladies who believed in my vision. We will travel to multiple states, including Louisiana, Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and of course, Texas, to pour into as many women as will allow. In six short months, Women with Balance now has over 11,000 followers on Facebook and almost 7,000 on Instagram and continuously growing!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve spent way more than I’ve earned. Been scammed a time or two and been discouraged but it’s all worth it to walk in my purpose.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Women with Balance – what should we know?
It is a blog, community, faith-based clothing line, and future subscription service. I am also an author, speaker, and influencer and that is something I am extremely proud of because I get to pour into women daily. I think it’s needed and what makes me different is that I am transparent. If you read my blogs or hear me speak, you know I don’t hold back. So much of social media is fake. I try to be as real as I can be while still protecting my family. Far as me and my struggles, I am an open book.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Once I want something, I am determined. I will spend hours learning how to perfect it. If I love it, I am obsessed with it. And that’s how I feel about being chosen to do Women with Balance. It’s not work. It’s passion. It’s purpose. So I would say that’s important to success because success to me is getting to do what you love.
