Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Andrews.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been into fitness and cared about my health, but it wasn’t until five years ago when I truly discovered what that looked like. I tapped into my personal health and fitness after taking a break from the modeling world. I had to reevaluate what it meant to be healthy and change my lifestyle. I went through a rough time in my life and it happened all at once. I had to figure out who I was and take my self worth out of what someone told me I was or who I would amount to be. I had to pick up the pieces of a crumbled woman who took a chance on relationships and got stuck in an uncomfortable situation. Once I cut ties, became comfortable, and confident in my own skin again, fitness became an addiction. A healthy one, of course.
Working out became a release. It became my safe place to deal with my emotions and my anger and face myself every day. I remember waking up every morning and I would make myself stand in front of the mirror and say five positive things about myself. Starting out… I couldn’t say one. As the years went on and I rebuilt myself, those affirmations became easier and easier. I learned to love myself again and who I am as a person. I learned that nobody can tell me who or what I am or what I will be. I learned self-worth and self-respect. Most importantly, I learned that things don’t happen ‘to us…’ that they happen ‘for us.’ To teach us these life lessons and build us into the person we were meant to become. Today, I stand confident and proud of who I am. I feel unbreakable. I have returned to the model world and remind myself daily that I get to choose. I will never again change myself to fit the mold, but let the industry mold to me. I am also working as a Personal Trainer helping women and men regain their confidence and take on this life journey. My joy comes from playing a part in helping others find happiness and health. In conclusion: “Practice what you preach and then you can start teaching what you preach.”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is any road ever smooth? Haha. I think my biggest struggles were finding that motivation daily. In the beginning, it was tough to get out of bed and get going every morning. As time went on, it became easier and easier to find that motivation. Sometimes, you just have to be easy on yourself and allow yourself to enjoy the journey and know that it won’t happen overnight.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Personal Trainer and Model. I’ve always known that I would work for myself and had that boss mentality since I was young. I train mainly women of all types whether it’s for weight loss, muscle building, or a personal goal specific to them. I do also train a few men here and there. I think what sets me apart is my ability to connect with others on a personal level. My business is called ‘head to toe fitness’ and that means that it starts in the mind and ends at the toes. I believe that in order to succeed, one must first find and overcome those mental blocks. From there, we have a platform to build on.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
It’s hard to say how I would define success. I guess having the mindset that I do and being a go-getter, it’s hard to find success sometimes. I find myself always wanting to climb that ladder. There’s always a higher climb and room to grow.
