Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Houston.
Eric, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started singing at the age of three. I used to sit at home and sing Walter Hawkins songs with my mom and aunt. Believe I led my first solo in church about ten years and by the age of 12, I was singing with the Adult Choir. When I was a senior in high school, I was chosen to be apart of a group of students to record a song for an abstinence program (which in itself at the time was funny, lol). We record in a professional studio that moment on I was hooked, I knew music was what I really wanted to do.
In my early 20s, I begin to sing background for a lot of local artists along with becoming music director at a local church. Although I was really comfortable singing background, God continues to push me to the front.
Fast forward to 2016, I started my own gospel group. This was my second attempt my first attempt didn’t go as I planned; but, due to an illness, I was sidelined from seeing for almost a year. I’m happy to say that God healed my body in 2018! Through the whole process, I continued to hear a voice telling me that “you are stronger than what you think.” Stronger stuck with me, so I renamed the group Stronger and today we are working on our very first EP album!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No! Lol, it’s been tough, but glad it hasn’t been a smooth road because I would be as grateful as I am today.
You know it’s crazy because I struggle within myself. You always wonder am I good enough? Will the people receive me? God, you know I still do this and I still do that, you sure you want to use me? ME? Lol, but I have to continue to tell myself greater is He that’s within me! But yes, the struggles are real.

Well, Eric Houston and Stronger are a group of amazing and talented singers who simply love God, and came together to form a gospel recording group.
We are mostly known for the excitement that we have on stage! It’s all for God though, we’re just excited about him and it shows on when we sing. I’m just proud they allow me to be in front I’m humbled.
You know I would hope that this doesn’t set us apart and I would hope that every gospel singer, group or choir shares the same outlook but we don’t do this for the fame or the fortune, we do it simply because we love God and we love to tell people just how good God is! “We wanna win souls” is something we always say!
What were you like growing up?
Goofy! Lol, straight like that! I was a good kid though I was pretty smart in school, being a Class Clown would get me in trouble a lot, lol. Always said if I didn’t do music, I would probably be a comedian, football player or WWE world heavyweight champion… lol. I always loved music though, if it was being my high school drum major are singing in the choir in school or in church music has always been my first love.
