Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Adams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
No matter what job I may have done for a living or what phase of my life I was in, I have always been intrigued with relationships and the connection between a man and a woman. It is my favorite topic of discussion, and I am fascinated by attraction, love, and passion. I read up on these topics in books, magazines, blogs. I binge watch shows on love, reality and otherwise. And there is nothing better to me than a lively discussion on relationships among friends. Sharing stories, laughing, and encouraging one another.
I am the one who is always asked to give my perspective and advice. I listen and try to offer a fresh perspective or highlight different points for the person to consider. This advice-dispensing started back in high school, and what’s ironic is that even as a high school teacher years later, advice on relationships figured prominently as one of my most important skills sets. The biggest takeaway I gathered is that teenagers can’t do their best work and are completely distracted when their love relationships are out of whack. And not surprisingly, it applies to adults as well.
Looking back, it’s clear that I should have pursued a love-related career from the onset. But I did what was expected to get a “good job”; from the major, I studied, to the jobs that I took. I did what was safe, expected, and practical.
But it was never the right fit.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I became great at what I did. More a testament to my work ethic and skill set, than a passion for what I was doing. Even though I went to graduate school and changed career paths several times, I continued to select positions based on practical reasons or accidental serendipity.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the best attributes I have is being fearless. I have always set a goal and then combined preparation with killer confidence to achieve them. Time after time.
But those moments of fearlessness evolved to inner strength and resolve as I encountered some major health challenges. Life altering, all-consuming, health challenges that changed who I was fundamental. I went from being a workaholic, type A, perfectionist businesswoman to being forced to lay down and rest. It’s still something I find challenging–learning to incorporate rest, relaxation and balance into my everyday.
My only regret is that I wish I had been more balanced in the pursuit of my goals and aspirations. It is my biggest piece of advice for other women–to ignore this nonsense and foolishness about hustling 24/7 and make self care a priority that is tantamount along with faith, fitness, healthy eating, great friendships, and a positive outlook.
We have more control than we realize for the quality of life that we will have. There is no reason not to enjoy the process all along the way. Don’t just become a working drone who fails at family or love relationships, or your health suffers. Make your own heart happy while on the pursuit of career and success.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.

In addition to writing on love and passion, I am a foodie and fashionista who loves working with brands that add joi de vivre to my life. It’s important to me to demonstrate what loving every part of your life looks like, so I enjoy partnering with brands that are fun, healthy, special or unique. And if it’s local, small or female owned, even better!
I believe that the hope, confidence, and joy bubbling inside of me is transferable to each person I meet and work with. I have no doubt that changing your mindset and controlling your mouth is the key to claiming the life and love you were always meant to experience. Negative attitudes and careless word choices are why so many of us are not in the soul-satisfying passionate relationships that we are meant to have. I am working to change that, one heart at a time.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
To boldly pursue the passion and vision in your heart! It’s important not to let other voices, no matter how well-meaning, distract you from achieving the life that you want for yourself. Many times other people speak to us from their own experience or from their own fears and limitations. Wise counsel from trusted advisors is always important, but don’t allow them to talk you out of your mission. You are uniquely qualified to do what you are called to do, and no one else will do it quite like you. So, don’t let them stop you or dissuade you from embarking on your own unique life path. The world is waiting for what you have to offer because no one else will do it just like you!
