Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Mazaikina.
Anna, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My name is Anna Mazaikina and I am a vintage dealer. My fascination with jewelry started when we moved to Japan. I was impressed by their culture and sense of style and fashion. But I was completely blown away when we visited the United States and I saw the possibilities of American antique market. Now I live in Austin, Texas and keep traveling to different parts of the USA to explore the diversity of the vintage jewelry and fashion trends.
I became a vintage dealer because of my love of fashion and my passion for jewelry and antiques. It is unbelievable what gems you can find at vintage fairs and fashion galleries. Only genuine pieces become a part of my collection and can be proudly displayed at any museum. In fact, one of my greatest ambitions is to open the museum of vintage jewelry and share its striking beauty with the world.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I started the Instagram account @antiques_by_anna in 2015 and now I have more than 21000 followers who share my commitment to fashion, style and uniqueness of vintage jewelry. I can’t thank enough each of my customers for the inspiration and support they give me for more than three years.
Every month I plan my journey to antique shows, galleries, and events. I continue my self-education with catalogues and books. The most exciting part of my job – I still find rare pieces which I haven’t seen before. In March, I opened a location in Austin, TX where I keep more than 300 pieces of the vintage jewelry. I can say that’s my private museum.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
The biggest challenge to keep creative and business parts together. I would buy jewelry just to please my taste, but I need to think about my customers’ needs. I always offer what I prefer personally, anyway business part not the easiest one.
For me, this challenge is a unique experience to build my expertise in finance and grow my project. It gives me more skills than I ever achieved at my previous office jobs.
I have plans for ten years and more seems I can do that all my life.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
All the pieces that I offer are carefully selected and are available online at my store www.antiquesbyanna.com with the free shipping to any part of the world.
It is my job not only to sell them but to tell stories about them. I love to make my own research in the jewelry history and fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Schreiner, Kramer, Celine, Valentino and of course, Chanel and share these stories around my followers.
