Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Rosemond.
Gabrielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The mission of F-Nation Foundation is rooted in connecting women through faith, so I would have to say my mission and purpose in life began to reveal itself to me in childhood. I have always been surrounded by strong entrepreneurial women. At an early age, they would tell me that I was wise beyond my years and always encouraged me to share my perspective on various topics. It’s funny because when I was young, I resented older people asking me my opinion. It felt like a burden. I was deathly afraid of being wrong. But beyond that, I did not recognize it as a God-given gift, the ability to provide wise counsel and encourage others to believe in themselves.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been everything except smooth! Like many other people who aspire to have an impact or achieve a certain level of success, I was met with challenges along the way. Sometimes, the problems are personal, other times professional. At times, it has been a spiritual battle, and other challenges have come due to my rebellion or disobedience. It’s in these moments that God has positioned me to rise to the occasion of the level he intended to elevate me.
I’ve always considered myself a hustler. In good times and in bad, I know how to get things done while making it look easy. However, this mentality doesn’t fare well when trying to build a sustainable business. As a “hustler,” everything was about the chase, the win, closing the deal. But once a deal was complete, I was on to the next thing without considering a holistic strategy that would allow me to walk in my purpose while creating sustainable profits for my business. I kept chasing projects rather than chasing purpose which resulted in me not seeing the fruits of my labor in the way that I expected.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the F-Nation Foundation story. Tell us more about the business.
In the last quarter of 2018, I decided that my word for 2019 would be “impact.” I started to ask God to use me in a way that would make a difference in the lives of the people I engage with most often. As I mentioned before, I have always been surrounded by strong entrepreneurial women. Throughout the past year, either through networking, mutual friends, or attending conferences, I kept meeting women who were launching businesses but struggling to balance it all. This became especially apparent in a monthly bible study that I host. The ladies were sharing the ups and downs of starting and growing their businesses. The thing that stood out most was the feedback I received on how attending bible study and building God into their business plan was making in a difference in their growth– both spiritually and financially.
From here, F-Nation Foundation was born. I wanted to create a safe space that allowed professional and entrepreneurial women to get real about the spiritual struggles that come with building a business or advancing in their career without feeling “churchy.” We provide networking events and entrepreneur education rooted in faith. Providing access to capital is also a fundamental aspect of our mission as an organization. Our inaugural event, Fashionably Faithful was held on May 9, 2019. The event consisted of a curated reception and panel discussion of creative entrepreneurs across the fashion, beauty, footwear, retail, media, and technology industries. Our esteemed panelist shared their path to success in business in a way that honors God and their faith walk.
