Meet Gayla Randle of The Rock Your Crown Network in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gayla Randle.

Gayla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always wanted to start my own mentoring program, and always said I would… but of course, when I saw all the work it would take to actually make it happen, I put it on the back burner. Then, when I finally moved to Tennessee in 2016, it’s like I knew it was time to make it happen. So, the first thing I did was come up with a name… A Helping Hand… BOOOO, lol! I honestly was just trying to come up with something clever and quick. Next thing I had to do was register my business through the secretary of state. I knew I needed to get the word out quickly, so I had flyers made and went to literally every recreation center to post flyers about or organization. In the beginning, I was so focused on numbers and getting people to join, that I lost sight of what was really important. I lost sight of the main purpose I was putting this organization together.

Here we are, a year later and I expanded the mentoring program to a network of platforms. Welcome to the Rock Your Crown Network where we offer mentoring for girls ages 10-17, a motivational podcast segment, and we recently started public/motivational speaking. Although the road has been far from easy, and I’ve cried many tears because I know exactly what I want, but have to remember that it’s all according to God’s timing. Today, I am blessed to have been asked to speak to different schools around the Chattanooga area, as well as mentor and be able to positively impact someone. I have so much in store and know this is only the beginning! Although we are based in Chattanooga, TN, we are currently in the process of expanding back to Dallas, TX.

Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? HA! Can pigs fly? It’s actually been one of the most difficult roads ever traveled. A struggle I’ve faced is moving to a completely new state, and starting a business with no connects whatsoever. Moving to a new place is already a difficult thing to do, but to have to try and network and meet people without even knowing where to start was a challenge.

Another challenge faced was learning how to ask for help. I’ve always been the type to never want to ask for help because of the thought that it makes me look weak. This has definitely taught me that everyone needs help, and there are people who are more than willing to help. All you have to do is ask.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Rock Your Crown Network – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
