Meet Keirsten Howard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keirsten Howard.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Wow what to say, I knew I loved Fashion since I could remember, but I can say my journey as an artist and involving myself in the fashion community started 4-5 years ago. During my younger years, I had plenty of sketchbooks, the coolest sewing machine, and of course I was a true fan of America’s Next Top Model. The true entry into my career started around the time I came home from undergrad. Graduating from Jackson State University with a dual degree in Studio Art/Graphic Design, I was unaware of my path and creative talent. By trusting God and speaking my desires into existence, I received an interview with a high-end retail brand that provided me a beautiful opportunity to grow my skills in leadership, merchandising and business in prep for entrepreneurship. I quickly understood that I had a passion for Creative Directing, fashion shows, and styling clients. I began researching individuals, entrepreneurs, artists, and fashion events in the community and I took the time to study the culture.

With each project, each influential person I met, I gained more and more insight on what it takes to bring out the beauty in others. I knew right away… I was on the verge of developing a creative platform for myself and others.

Please tell us about your art.
My Art consists of all things Fashion. I am a Wardrobe Stylist, Designer, and Creative Director. My art allows me to admire the attention to details.

As a stylist, I am able to prepare and create looks in variety that best support a client’s personality and daily life. As a Director, I oversee the entire process of a project or concept. I add the key people, necessities, direction to execute and thoroughly produce great work.

A year ago, I launched my first Business, KEIR, a consulting agency that believes in channeling inner confidence and pride. My brand defines more than Styling clients but portrays the beauty of Authenticity, empowerment, and the ability to wear what represents the best you. As CEO and lead stylist some of the services I provide are, Personal Shopping, Virtual Styling, restyling current closet pieces, designing pieces, and of course coordinating Looks for Visual Projects and Fashion Shows.

Recently, I launched one of my biggest projects yet and with God’s grace, in the works of producing another. Because community is so important and so many wonderful people helped me get this far, I wanted to create the same opportunity and build a platform for other creatives. Creative Collectives of Atx is a developing Media Agency located in Austin Texas and was made to build the bridge between entrepreneurs and Local businesses. I wanted to make a safe place for other Creatives to be recognized for their talents and to build a workspace to freely create with others in the Art community. It’s very inclusive and again an Authentic group that shines the light on the Art gems of Texas. I’m excited to see it continue to grow and can’t wait to see where we end up in 2020.

Hmm inspiration? Would be my family. I was blessed to grow up around a big family of Woman Entrepreneurs. It’s all I know and understand when it came to building my own Empire. Because of them, I’ve been taught the ability to be myself and to not be afraid of what isn’t being done.

Through my upcoming projects, and businesses, I hope to inspire other artists, particularly Female Artists, to continue to go after your dreams. WHATEVER THEY ARE. There will be question and doubt, but trust your gift, as an artist, remaining confident and artistic in your work, you will succeed, and you will find those who love and support what you do.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Honestly? Keep going … that’s seriously my best advice. No matter what your medium is or where you are in your journey, KEEP GOING. From the beginning, middle, and end, you will face moments of uncertainty and will ask your self …is this for me? Am I doing what’s going to keep me happy in a few years? Does this bring me peace? If the answer is yes? You’re right on track. Confidence in an artist is everything. When you are passionate about what you do, everything falls into place. You just have to trust the process and your talent and stay patient. Trust me, “The bag” is yours.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Simple! I’m excited to share that our teams for both KEIR and Creative Collectives are currently working on the rebranding of the websites! In the meantime we are available on most social media sites and love engaging with future clients through email!! As the summer approaches, there will be events shared with the community inviting anyone and everyone to come out and interact with those of CCATX and other creatives.
