Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Scott.
Crystal attended cosmetology school while in high school, which was a joint program with the Fort Worth Independent School District at the time, with the hopes of continuing a career in hair styling. In college, Crystal decided to take her education in a different direction but did not know that her love of personal beauty would come full circle.
After serving as a freelance artist, Crystal decided to launch her own branded company, Crystal Scott Artistry. The company offers makeup classes and consultations, bridal makeup and a wide array of other makeup services. She has traveled the U.S. providing makeup services for various ages, ethnicities, and events. Her personal beauty philosophy is that “makeup does not change the beauty you have, but simply reveals what you don’t see!”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth. I came to a point in my make up a career where I felt like I was not progressing and my business wasn’t growing as it should have. I was comparing myself to other makeup artist and comparing their success or their talents to where I was. I will began to pray and God show me that not everybody takes the same road. Everyone has their own path and I needed to take mine. So, I started investing in myself and my business and Crystal Scott Artistry has flourished and continues to grow.
Please tell us more about what you do as a company, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in bridal and special occasion makeup. I also specialize in blemish cover-ups. What sets Crystal Scott Artistry apart from other makeup artist is that I truly take the time to understand the art of makeup and skincare. I don’t just follow trends. I continue to educate myself and those who work with me on new techniques, tools and how to properly care for the skin.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment so far in my makeup career has been the launch of my lash line: Artistry Lashes! I now offer 3d mink lashes along with other makeup needs such as makeup applications and classes.
