Today we’d like to introduce you to Dmitri Love.

Dmitri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was on my way to a degree in biochemistry at the University of Arkansas when a devastating soccer injury disrupted my studies. I tore my ACL, MCL, and most of my meniscus. During the long recuperation, I taught myself programming and began a new journey—a path that led me to become something I never thought I would be. While looking for fun things I could build, I came across Acorns, an app that facilitates investing in commodity assets. Since my interest was in crypto at the time, I set out to make investing in it accessible to everyone. Bundil was the result—no large amounts of money needed, nor any “insider” knowledge. Now as the CEO of Bundil, I’m currently being accelerated by Capital Factory, and on my way to launching a new and improved version of the app.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

Not at all. We ran into a few challenges with growth. After Shark Tank, we had more users than we could ever hope for. Which in some cases is a golden scenario. However, since we were so young as a company, the system just wasn’t ready for that type of scale. We have spent the last five months iterating and making the system the best it can be, so we can scale hard, and bring Bundil to everyone.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bundil story. Tell us more about the business.

Bundil allows you to round your spare change from debit and credit card purchase into cryptocurrency and savings. For example, if you go buy a coffee for $3.45, we would round up the extra $.55 to 4 dollars and buy crypto for you. It’s a simple way to invest while mitigating risk and without having to think about when or how to buy.

Because you invest over time in small amounts, you are able to use something called dollar cost averaging to scale into the market, and fight some of the volatility crypto is known for.

We pride ourselves in making sure we have an amazing User Experience. We want to provide the best product out there and spend lots of hours working on what our users see in the app. This sets us apart because we always put our user first. In the new version of the app, the UX is even better and we can’t wait to show it to the world.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
When I had my knee injury I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. It really set me off course in life. It was a key turning point where I decided I wouldn’t just sit and do nothing. I was going to create something that would be useful to the world. Little did I know what it would become.
